It is situated in 125 km to the south-east from Ufa.
This is the administrative centre of Alsheyevskiy region. There are more than 43 thousand people living in the region, more than 18 thousand people in Rayevskiy village.
The landscape of the region is various and picturesque: there are forests and steppes here, mountains and fertile valleys. The games of some curing herbals are organized in Aksenovskoye forestry. The Dioma River with its tributaries Avruz, Kursak, Tiulian; the Urshak Riverwith its tributaries Kizil, Takelga and others flow there. There is one of the beautiful mountains of the Bashkir Pre-Urals on the right slope of the Dioma valley – the Susaktau Mountain(in the translation from Bashkir – the mountain-knoll). Its top has conical shaped and the terrace-like slopes with steps.
Curing with kumis appeared on this land and it has practice almost in all sanatoria of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The Kiev entrepreneur, the working councilor of state M.I. Dubinin and the general’s wife O.I. Shafranova organized these sanatoria more than 100 years ago. Patients with consumption were traveling from all over Russia to get kumis treatment here. Here A.P. Chekhov improved his health as well as soil scientist N.M. Sibirtsev. People having consumption came here for kumis. The region nowadays is also the leader on producing kumis.There also works the sanatoria «Shafranovo» and the A.P. Chekhov one.
The important railway road crosses the territory of the region.It connects the centre of the country with Uralo-Sibirskiy region.
