It was open in 1924 (sculptor I. Mendelevich, architect D. Larionov). The monument looked like a marble pillar with the granite basement and crowned with a marble sphere-globe. Full-size figure of Vladimir Lenin was installed at the basement of the pillar. It was one of the first sculpture Lenin memorials in the country. Then the copies of this memorial were erected in other cities of the country. In 1939 the sculpture by Mendelevich was substituted with the copy by the sculptor S. Merkulov. After the reconstruction in 1989–1999 the sculptural figure of Lenin wasn’t erected.
