It was opened in 2008, the memorial is devoted to Zagir Ismagilov (1917–2003), an outstanding composer, teacher, national artist of the USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics), the author of the operas «Salavat Yulayev», «Shaura», «The Waves of Agidel», «The Envoys of Ural», «Kodasa» («Sister-in-law»), «Akmulla», the ballet «Crane’s Song» and other musical compositions of the golden fund of the Bashkir musical classics. The bronze sculpture fits perfectly at the Theatre square near the Theatre of Opera and Ballet, where the compositions by Zagir Ismagilov had great success, and opposite the Academy of Art, founder and first president of which he was. The composer is depicted in his creative moment; he holds a kurai in his hand (sculptor Kh. Khabibrakhmanov).
