Is situated in 49km to the north-east from Ufa, on the highways Ufa – Iglino – Krasnaya Gorka, Arkhangelskoye – Iglino.
It is the administrative centre of Iglinskiy region. The village is situated on the river Belekes (the tributary of the river Ufa), on the Ufa–Kropachevo part of the railway.
There live about 14 thousand people.
History
It was founded in 1786 by the second major S.V. Iglin. After the uniting in 1865 with Arkhangelskoye village it was called Arkhangelskoye, it has the present name since 1920. There are several monumentsof architecture in Iglino – the former buildings of the merchant Minin’s shops and houses, the houses of church choirchief (starosta), the first zemstvo school.
A prominent artist and poet, the leader and the theorist of the Russian futurism, David Burluk (1882–1967) lived in 1915–1918 in Iglino and on the station Buzdiak. He had drawnabout 200 pictures in Bashkortostan. Among them are «The Spring in Iglino Village»,»The Village in Evening», «The Red Midday», «The Portrait of a Young Bashkir». There are 37 works of his in the M.V. Nesterov Bashkir State Museum.
The native of the village A.D.Vakulski has lived and worked in the Netherlands since 1976: he is a conductor of the National Youths Orchestra of the Netherlands and simultaneously – the Symphonic Orchestra of Amsterdam; he collaborates with the National Symphonic Orchestra of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
