Adress: Oktiabrskaya Revolutsia Street, 57/1
This is a one-storey brick estate that was built in the 2nd half of the XVIII century by the prominent Ufa mine and metallurgical factories owner Evdokim Demidov. The house was made in the style of early modern and it was re-built several times. Till 1860s it belonged to Evdokim’s son Ivan and his heirs, then to the Ufa merchant F.S. Sofonov and his heirs. Ivan Demidov is known as an owner of mines and metallurgical factories and the patron of art. He donated some funds for building of a castiron bridge in Ufa and the Ufa Boys’ Gymnasia. On May 1775 the Great Russian commander Alexander Suvorov (1730–1800) stayed in this house. He came to Ufa for the complete suppression of the riots after the defeat of Emelian Pugachev’s armies. According to his words he "didn’t administer justice and ruled not to execute punishment except the civil one and only for the immoral instigators, but he managed with mercy and attention and with the promise of the highest Emperor’s mercy".
